Tapestry (n): a piece of cloth with a pattern or picture that is created by sewing or weaving different colored threads onto a special type of strong cloth.

The title of this showcase stemmed from the idea of individual threads coming together to create one picture. Throughout history we see the usage of tapestries and quilts as a means of storytelling and communication. It is my hope that this showcase will do the same. Our stories are not isolated, they are interwoven with one another!

Each one holds a unique place in the larger picture.

This carefully curated collection celebrates the intersections and duality of life within communities of color, while also featuring a few original works of these talented students.

Embodying a range of emotions, from joy to anger and sadness, these pieces remind us of the power of creativity to inspire and uplift.

These are the stories that build community and restore empathy.
